Well, that was historic…

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

The first preview service is in the books!  Yesterday, we met and had the first of two weeks of preview services where we are trying to work out the kinks and get it started.  The sound was a little much (acoustic stuff we are trying to figure out) and the sermon blinked twice (that got my heart-rate going.  Can you imagine trying to finish a David Landrith sermon?) but on the whole, “him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us,” did exactly that.  The children’s set looked amazing, the check-in went wondrously smooth, the preschool was very professional and well staffed, Dale Smith gave an Oscar-worthy performance as one of our story tellers, the host tables were staffed, the greeters were friendly, Mike Marlow ushered like a pro, an army of folks helped do set up the night before with minimal injuries, and all of this for the glory of His grace!!!

Next week will be a little different in that we are going to do the set-up that morning, we have to make ourselves do it someday and spending Saturday night setting up signs is going to get old really fast.

Stepping back and looking at the whole where else would you want to be than right on the cutting edge of the work of God, be it in Hendersonville, Gallatin, White House, Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, or the end of the earth?

Looking forward to the grace to come,

So, about those Youth?

Monday, July 21st, 2008

Lots of questions surrounding the youth and when and where they are going to meet.  Let me clear some of that up while leaving some of it muddy.  The clear part:  We are going to launch the youth group when we launch the campus on August 10th, not before.  So the preview services won’t include a youth program that night.  The muddy part:  We aren’t 100% sure where the youth will meet yet.  There are some really promising possibilities, but nothing definitive.  Some cool stuff has come up though and rest assured, as per the amount of emphasis the youth get on the other campuses that they will be cared for with the excellence and ‘coolness’ that they get on the other two campuses.  God is so good!

Lets try an FAQ

Tuesday, July 8th, 2008

As far as I can tell, the most frustrating thing about not having a regular meeting time yet is information dissemination.  I can’t see you so I can’t talk to you about what you might be wondering about.  I can’t see what’s bouncing around in the old brain box.  So lets try an FAQ.  Send me questions.  Your questions, your friends’ questions, your children’s questions, your youth questions, your service questions, your style questions, all of them.  I want to know what you wonder or even what you think others might be wondering.  Let me know, I’ll figure out the answer, and then I’ll post it.  Easy as ABC right?  Well I need the questions to post so send them to me along with any other comments or jokes at ben.heile@longhollow.com.  Thanks!

Small Group anyone?

Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008

Well as we push harder and harder toward our launch date, I grow more and more jealous for each and every White House Campus person to be involved in a small group.  We just have to do it, it will be a fiery center of ministry and activity and I can’t overstate their importance.  So, I am going to list the few but excellent already established groups and let you start to move your way toward them.  PS. START A GROUP YOURSELF!!!  If you are even halfway close to thinking about leading a small group, call me, email me, shout my name as loud as possible from your living room and I’ll come running to see if it is a possibility.  I don’t want you to get the impression that we have anything other than sky high standards for our small group leaders, but the actual job is very doable and should not be intimidating in the least.  I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the most vital service role you can have here at Long Hollow White House is to lead a small group, no questions asked.  Okay, so here are the groups and times:

Wednesday Nights:Allen and Vicki Beckner which meet in Northwoods, White House

Thursday Nights:    Terry and Monica Alexander which meet in Cottontown

Friday Nights:            Matt and Kristy Holder which meet in Indian Ridge, White House

Sunday Nights:         Dale and Shirley Smith which meet in Orchard Park, White House

Andy and Stephanie Cook which meet in Hilton Hills, White House

Ben and Sheila Lay which meet in Millersville

Troy and Deborah Donaldson in Fern Valley Rd, White House

TBD:                            Mark and Jennifer McLane which meet in Springfield

When you want to know more about these groups, like how to get there, contact info, just whatever, email me at ben.heile@longhollow.com and I will take care of it!  Thanks!
